Last Day to Enroll: December 15
For January 1 Coverage
On November 14, 2013, President Obama announced that he would allow insurers to renew their existing health plans in the individual and small group markets for one more year, regardless of whether the plans meet the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) requirements for minimum essential coverage and the law's market reforms.
Each State has the authority to decide whether they will allow insurers to renew their existing non-ACA compliant plans. On November 18, 2013, various news agencies reported that New York would not renew plans that are not compliant with the ACA's requirements as of
January 1, 2014.
In line with this position, EmblemHealth will not change the group of ACA-compliant products offered in 2014, and we have no plans at this time to retract discontinuance notices. We are excited about our new coverage options for individuals and small businesses that make sense for their coverage needs in 2014 and beyond.
EmblemHealth HMO 40/60, 35/55 and HD6300 are three of the most competitively priced small group plans on the market that meet not only the requirements of the ACA, but also the needs and budgets of small businesses. For your reference, we are pleased to provide you with our 1Q 2014 Premium Rates & Benefits Comparison Sheet for our new small group plans.
For coverage with EmblemHealth that starts January 1, 2014, your clients must enroll in one of our new ACA-compliant plans by December 15, 2013. Help your clients start the new year with health care coverage; enroll them in one of our commissionable small group plans by December 15.
