Asthma Management

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, poor management of asthma causes 1.7 million emergency visits and 440,000 hospitalizations annually. With proper asthma management, many of these visits can be avoided. Please ensure that your patients with asthma:

  • Are following their asthma action plan.
  • Know how to use and take proper care of their inhalers.
  • Are aware of the dangers of tobacco use and medical strategies that can help them quit.

When prescribing a controller medication for your patients with asthma, please also consider prescribing a 90-day supply of medicine.
