In June 2023, we announced that CPT Code 15834 (Excision, excessive skin, and subcutaneous tissue (includes lipectomy); hip) was being added to the EmblemHealth Preauthorization List starting Oct. 13, 2023.
After further consideration, we have determined that the code will not be added to the EmblemHealth Preauthorization List.
We will continue to apply our Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Procedures medical policy which lists CPT Code 15834 on Table 1 as a cosmetic procedure.
